Travelers will experience a reduced speed limit to 55 mph, and delays, on I-64 between mile 18.8 and 23.9 weekdays Monday through Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the following morning. Except on weekends, when no lane closures will be allowed. Additional lane closures are possible weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to allow for asphalt pavement repairs. This project is expected to last until the fall of 2010.

Construction is underway on I-64 in both directions between the Jefferson County line and the Simpsonville exit in Shelby County (mile points 23.2 and 28.1). Work begins today, November 9th, to widen I-64 to three lanes in each direction. The new lanes will be constructed in the interstate median. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction on I-64 during the majority of the construction. Lane closures will be necessary during the mobilization and demobilizatiion of the project and will occur during the overnight hours. Lane closures are possible in both directions weekdays from 7:00 p.m. each evening until 6:00 a.m. the following morning. The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 55 MPH for the duration of the project.

Construction is underway to rebuild the interchange at mile 118 on I-64 in Indiana. This is the intersection of SR 64 and SR 62 near Georgetown, Indiana. Significant delays to motorists are expected during construction which is expected to be completed by April, 2010.
