I-264 SOUND BARRIER CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN IN JEFFERSON COUNTY

Louisville, KY (February 6, 2014) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) recently awarded a contract for sound barrier construction along Interstate 264 in Jefferson County. The barrier will be built on the south side of I-264 (Watterson Expressway) near the Southern Parkway exit (see map below). This 1/2 mile section of concrete barrier will replace an existing wooden barrier between Cliff Avenue and Southern Parkway (mile points 9.5 to 10.0).

Contract crews will begin work in mid-February installing work zone signs and clearing the sites of brush and other debris. Lane closures will be limited to weeknights from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following morning and weekends from 8:00 p.m. on Friday until 5:00 a.m. on Monday. Shoulder closures are possible during daytime hours.
