Interstate 65: Lane closures and delays scheduled between I264 Watterson Expressway and Chestnut Street overpass mile points 131.2 to 135.4 due to asphalt removal and replacement. Lane closures are possible weeknights from 7:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following morning and on weekends from 7:00 p.m. on Friday until 5:00 a.m. on Monday. The following ramps are closed and will remain closed for several weeks due to sight distance issues: Entrance ramp from Warnock Street to both northbound and southbound I-65 Entrance ramp from Arthur Street to southbound I-65 Entrance ramp from Eastern Parkway to southbound I-65 Tractor-trailers will be required to detour the project area on weekends when lane closures are in place. Trucks traveling northbound on I-65 will be detoured via westbound I-264 to eastbound I-64, from which they can access I65 at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge. Trucks traveling south from southern Indiana will be detoured via westbound I64 to eastbound I264, from which they can access I65. Law enforcement officers will be stationed at each end of the project to enforce this detour.

Northbound Interstate 71 Roadway will be reduced to one lane between downtown and I-264, mile points 0 and 5.5, due to bridge repairs. Lane closures are scheduled from 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9th through 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 26th. The speed limit in the work zone is reduced to 45 MPH. Tractor-trailers and loads wider than 11 feet will not be permitted through this work zone. A signed detour will be in place via eastbound I-64 and eastbound I-264. MOTORISTS SHOULD USE CAUTION IN THS AND ALL CONSTRUCTION ZONES FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY AS WELL AS THAT OF THE WORKERS.

The Department of Highways District 5 Office advises motorists to be aware of construction at the interchange of Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) and US 60 (Shelbyville Road). In addition, asphalt resurfacing will occur on I-265 between Interstate 64 and US 60 (mile points 25.4 and 26.7). The roadway may be reduced to one lane weeknights Monday through Thursday from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following morning. On weekends, lane/ramp closures are possible from 8:00 p.m. on Friday until 5:00 a.m. on Monday. The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 55 MPH. . Motorists should use caution in this and all construction zones for their own safety and that of the workers.

The Department of Highways District 5 Office advises motorists to be aware of impending construction along westbound Interstate 264 (Watterson Expressway) just west of the Bardstown Road interchange (mile point 15.6). Work is scheduled to begin the week of March 5th to construct a sound barrier on the north side of I-264. The sound barrier will extend from the entrance ramp at Bardstown Road to the exit ramp at Newburg Road. The right lane of westbound I-264 may be closed during construction weeknights from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning and on weekends from 9:00 p.m. on Friday until 6:00 a.m. on Monday. The work is scheduled for completion by June 30, 2012.
